Poster Request

My local parish (St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leicester), asked me to make an A2 poster to advertise our new, Friday coffee morning. This is what I came up with.

Doodlings

I have just returned from a lovely place called Kintbury - a residential retreat centre in Berkshire. It is a beautiful place full of beautiful people, with the sole aim to provide a beautiful experience that will positively impact on you and your life.
This one above is inspired by the work of printmaker, Maria Hatling

Just some little drawings that I have been doodling over the last couple of months... I seem to have developed an obsession with candles!

Doodling on holiday...

A few weeks ago, I want on a little holiday to the Isle if Wight, with my Mum and Gran. It is so picturesque and beautiful, we can't wait to go again and take my Dad and brother with us (They can do the driving and carry our shopping; sometimes they do have their uses!) I was so inspired by the beauty of our surroundings and I started sketching on my little pad that my friend gave me for my birthday (thank you Charlie!).

We met some lovely people who were staying at the same hotel; one couple called Connie and John, celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary, so I made them a card. As inspiration, I used one of the photos that I had taken at some botanical gradens that we visited. Being limited with one biro, my black gel pen having run out and the few pens and pencils that my Mum found in her handbag, I had to think creatively about how I could introduce some colour into my drawing. I decided that the juice of a dark red cherry would do just the trick! The stalk is coloured in with some of my Mum's green eyeshadow. I have used blue and black biro to define the edges and add definition.

Depressed Drawings?

One of my university tutors recently commented on some of my latest drawings and commented that they look "depressed" (!)

I'll leave you to decide for yourself...

The top three drawings are of my house keys and the bottom two are close-up details of the buckles on my little grey ankle boots.
Black and white cartridge paper, charcoal, pen, stitchwork.
So, what do you reckon?
