Going Bananas

These are photos from one of my sketchbooks, from my second year at uni. They are observational studies of bananas in various media, such as charcoal, oil pastel, acrylic paint and felt-tip marker pens.

Happy 21st Baby Brother!

This is the latest card that I have made. It was for my brother's 21st Birthday, which was last Sunday and on the first day of Spring. It is different from my usual style, as it involves ripped and cut-out coloured card. Normally, I draw cutesy things like teddy bears and flowers, using colour pencils, but I wanted to create a card that is more suitable for a guy than a girl. The cute teddies are normally for my Mum and my Gran!

There is a contrast in the collage card, as some of it is textured and some is shiny and smooth. On the textured card, I have used colour pencils to add further depth and interest. Wrapping a ribbon around two squares of shiny, blue card makes a present. This was attached with glue dots and sticky pads. The text is written in blue Biro...which has coincidentally just run out of ink!

Hello!

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Krysia...pronounced like Trisha but with a "K" instead of a "T". It's Polish and a long story; basically I am half-Polish, with my grandparents on my mother's side being from Poland. Turns out, it's not a long story!

I am a final year Textile Design student at Nottingham Trent Uni and my project at the moment is designing and making a range of greetings cards and giftware for The Tokenhouse, one of my favourite shops in Nottingham.

Here are images of cards that I have made for my friends and family, over the years...

Birthday card for my Mum / 21st Birthday card for my friend Dana / Birthday card for my Dad / Birthday gift tag for my Auntie.

Colour pencil, conté pencil, gel pen on cartridge paper.
